Project Reflection: This project sets a benchmark or legacy for every coming grade at Animas High School. The class of 2020 was assigned to design the new building and campus of Animas High School. We were teamed up in groups of four to collaborate a design that would be suited for the needs of both all students and teachers. We went through a long process and each group designed a project poster complete with a budget for a specific space on campus, a 3D rendering of that space, a design abstract and a blueprint of the campus. Throughout the project I feel I’ve grown the most through learning about human centered design. I learned many noteworthy strategies such as designing to human scale and conducting empathy interviews. Human centered design is a way to create comfortable spaces for humans to work or live in. Human centered design is a broad topic that covers many subjects. Essentially human centered design is designing spaces for humans not utilities. I learned a lot about collaborating with people throughout the project. Project work is about reading people and designing roles to best suit them. Most of us fell into our roles naturally but one of us had trouble throughout the project. At the time we used him as a scapegoat. Reflecting upon it, it was our fault that we didn’t assign him an appropriate role.
