The socialization and mask project is about how people inadvertently tell others how to act and how to dress and basically how to exist. We crafted masks using plaster and decorated them to tell our story of how we have been socialized. We displayed these masks in our final exhibition which a sort of walk through the cycle of socialization. Our socialization essay was also closely related to our mask in the fact that they showed the same factor that we had chosen to speak out about.
During this project I grew the most as a writer in the sense that my paragraph structure and vocabulary expanded. I learned a lot about TEA (topic evidence analysis} paragraphs. My essay is entirely in that format and so is this paragraph. This kind of paragraph I learned is very useful for getting points across by backing the point with evidence in a very fluid way.
My largest takeaway from this project is the ability to see reinforcements. Everyday i see people be socialized and only up till now i notice what it actually, because i have become more conscious of how i reinforce socialization on people as well is the reinforcements are positive are negative. I feel this has made in general be a better person and also made me realize how often i see and can affect the cycle of socialization.
My goals as a group member were to help shape the socialization exhibition in any way I could. I definitely feel that my goal was reached, giving out masks was partially my idea and ended up affecting other groups and becoming one of the best aspects of the exhibition, in my opinion. Reaching my goal definitely helped my confidence in making a change and speaking up for my opinions
As a group member I helped in anyway I could, I contributed my ideas and helped in construction I also helped in getting rid of what was know as “the smell” and saving the group from having to relocate our portion of the exhibition. I plan to apply being adaptive to other group projects where it is necessary for us to achieve
